About

A Community League is a volunteer, not-for-profit organization formed to meet the unique needs and interests of residents within a defined geographic area.

The role of the community league is to:

  • speak on behalf of their members, and
  • report on behalf of all residents within the Community League’s specified geographical area.
  • Bring neighbours together
  • Provide recreation and social programs
  • Develop amenities
  • Represent community interests to government and other organizations

A Community League is an autonomous body, registered under the Societies Act with the Corporate Registry of the Government of Alberta. It must have a properly elected board of directors including committee chairpersons responsible for carrying out the business of the league. Each Community League has specific boundaries that will define its membership.

The Canora Community League is one of the oldest leagues in Edmonton.

The Canora Community League is non-partisan. It does not support or endorse any particular political party or candidate, nor is it affiliated with any religion. We are not a governmental entity or organization.
