Exciting changes are soon to be underway at the Canora Community League as we breathe new life into our long-standing community hall. This renovation project is more than just a facelift—it’s a commitment to creating a more welcoming, functional, and sustainable space for everyone in the community.
Sustainability is a core focus of this project. The building will receive a new roof and will soon be powered by a combination of geothermal and solar energy—an investment in both environmental responsibility and long-term cost savings. In addition, a pay-per-use electric vehicle charging station is being installed to support the growing number of EV drivers in our city. The modest revenue from this charging station will also contribute to one of our goals of sustainability and setting up future versions of the Community League for success.
Outside, the hall is receiving a fresh, modern look with new stucco cladding that enhances both durability and aesthetic appeal. To complement this, carefully placed ambient lighting will bring warmth and character to the building’s exterior. A nod to our history, the legacy Canora Community Hall logo will be proudly displayed in a large-scale format.. On the south side of the building, a vibrant mural will add a splash of colour and creativity, turning the hall into a visual landmark and celebrating the spirit of our neighbourhood and its history.
Inside, thoughtful upgrades are taking place to improve both functionality and comfort. The bathrooms are being fully renovated with new tile and modern fixtures, and we’re excited to introduce a brand new accessible washroom to ensure that everyone feels welcome and accommodated. The kitchen is being expanded to better serve events and gatherings, and a new serving window facing the rink will create a seamless connection between indoor and outdoor activities. A brand new bar will also be added, offering a stylish and practical feature for community events and celebrations.
The hall’s existing sign is also getting a 21st-century upgrade, with a retrofit to convert it into a digital display for easier sharing of event information and community announcements.
Inside the hall, new lighting, insulation and beautiful herringbone flooring will enhance both energy efficiency and overall ambiance, creating a warm and inviting environment for years to come.
This renovation is about more than aesthetics—it’s about creating a space that reflects the pride we have in our community and our shared vision for the future.
